Welcome back, RotoBallers! July has officially arrived, the season is flying by, and we are a week away from the start of the second half of the regular season. With the recent injuries, prospect call-ups, and hot and cold streaks, it's time for another rankings check-in. Today, we will review Nick Mariano's updated 2024 fantasy baseball rankings and tiers for roto leagues (5x5 mixed leagues) as of July 4, 2024.
These rankings are released in early July, as Nick provides his rest-of-season fantasy baseball rankings and player values for the rest of this MLB season from this point forward. We are following many interesting storylines closely, all baked into these updated rankings, and you can see them below. Let's see where players such as Yordan Alvarez, James Wood, Shane Baz, Mike Trout, Mookie Betts, James Wood, Shane Baz, Zach Neto, Gavin Stone, Heliot Ramos, Zack Gelof, Josh Jung, and Jarred Kelenic currently rank. All of them have been performing well recently, struggling or returning from injury soon in 2024.
Some players are off to a terrific start in the first half so far, while some have struggled mightily. Which of these trends do we take seriously, and which do we put less stock into? Is it time to elevate our expectations on certain players and elevate touted prospects into a higher tier for fantasy baseball leagues? How much patience must we show for highly touted players who have struggled out of the gate, especially veterans with proven track records? Hopefully, the rankings below will give you some perspective on our thoughts on these topics and help you assess the strength of your rosters going forward.

Rest-Of-Season Fantasy Baseball Rankings - Week 16 Notes
We recently saw top prospects such as James Wood, Shane Baz, Christian Scott, and Brooks Lee promoted to the big leagues. Wood is hitting .300 (3-for-10) with an RBI and a stolen base over his first three big league games. Scott was unimpressive in recent start against the Washington Nationals, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two batters over 5 2/3 innings. Lee went 2-for-4 with an RBI in his MLB debut. The Rays traded right-hander Aaron Civale on Wednesday while promoting Baz to take his place in Tampa Bay's starting rotation.
Houston Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez has been on absolute fire recently and has homered over his last three games. Overall, Alvarez is having another terrific season, slashing .303/.380/.555 with 19 home runs, 49 RBI, 54 runs, and four stolen bases across 361 plate appearances. In five of his last nine contests, Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto has collected a hit. Neto has been solid this season and has popped 11 home runs with 11 steals over 83 games. Atlanta Braves southpaw Chris Sale has won 11 games, which ranks first in the National League. Sale owns a 2.71 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and a 127:19 K: BB across 99 2/3 innings in 2024.
Injuries continue to pile up. Minnesota Twins star third baseman Royce Lewis was placed on the injured list with a right adductor strain. Lewis is dealing with a Grade 2 strain and will be out at least through the All-Star break. Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Joey Ortiz also landed on the injured list with neck inflammation. Jordan Romano underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow Tuesday and will be shut down for six weeks. Pittsburgh Pirates rookie right-hander Jared Jones exited Wednesday's start with a strained lat.
Reinforcements are coming. Los Angeles Angels superstar outfielder Mike Trout has been pain-free and aims to return from the injured list in July. Trout underwent knee surgery on a torn meniscus in May. Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker has "turned a corner" in his recovery from a shin injury and is planning on doing some on-field work this week. San Diego Padres infielder Xander Bogaerts will begin a rehab assignment soon and could return around the All-Star break.
Some notable performances include Minnesota Twins third baseman Jose Miranda, who is slashing .390/.449/.1.010 with a home run, 13 RBI, six runs, and a stolen base over his last 11 games. New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos is slashing .314/.368/.800 with five home runs, 12 RBI, eight runs, and a 1.168 OPS over his last nine games. Oakland A's right-hander Joey Estes came out of nowhere to throw a complete game shutout, striking out five in Wednesday's win over the Los Angeles Angels.
Top 300 Fantasy Baseball Rankings - Week 16 Updates
These rankings will be updated weekly throughout the season, so some situations are very fluid. It's not panic time yet, and we may not be ready to elevate hot-starting players into the elite yet, either, but it's certainly a good checkpoint for the long fantasy season.
