Welcome to our PrizePicks MLB DFS prop picks for Friday, April 28, 2023. The 2023 MLB season is underway here at RotoBaller, and we have you covered with some terrific plays from our friends over at PrizePicks.
PrizePicks is a great DFS fantasy picks site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.
At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money.

PrizePicks Over/Under DFS Props Contests
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game.
The second game is known as Single Stat. For the MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total.
You can mix and match players from different types of games in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Let's see what the board offers today!

Lucas Giolito more than 5.5 strikeouts
This is a relatively low number on a guy of Giolito's caliber as he has posted at least a 9.0 K/9 in each of his previous four seasons. He has eclipsed this total in three of his first five starts on the season as well. His opponent, the Tampa Bay Rays, are also striking out at a reasonable clip of 23.7% over the previous two weeks, which ranks them just outside the bottom half of the league over that span.
Merrill Kelly more than 4.5 strikeouts
Kelly has eclipsed this total in each of his previous two starts and also just missed it in two starts at the beginning of the season against the Dodgers. His matchup tonight is rather soft against the Colorado Rockies.
Over the previous two weeks, the Rockies have posted a 25.1% K rate vs. right-handed pitching, which ranks them the 12th-worst in the league over that span. They have also paired that with an abysmal 55 wRC+ mark over that same span. Six of the previous 10 starters the Rockies have faced have eclipsed this number as well.
Framber Valdez more than 6.5 strikeouts
This is more about the man than the matchup. Valdez has been an absolute horse thus far in 2023 by posting a 2.52 ERA with a 9.56 K/9 over his first 32 innings pitched. He has managed to eclipse this number in three of his previous four starts, including a nine-strikeout performance against the Atlanta Braves in his most recent start. While the Phillies are posting just a 19.8% K rate vs. left-handers over the previous two weeks, they have been near the top of the left-handed K charts at various points thus far in 2023.
Byron Buxton more than an 8.0 hitter fantasy score
Buxton has been on fire as he has posted a 1.013 OPS with four stolen bases over the previous seven days and has eclipsed this number in three of his previous five games. He will be up against Jordan Lyles, who has allowed a ridiculous .285 BAA, 40 home runs, and 49 doubles to right-handed hitters since 2021.
