1 day agoNew York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed 22 of his 32 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns in a 21-13 win over the Houston Texans in Week 9's Thursday night game. That goes into the books as Rodgers' first game with more than two touchdown passes all season as he helped pull off the home win. Two of Rodgers' touchdown passes went to Garrett Wilson while the last one was a 37-yard strike to Davante Adams in the fourth quarter, the first touchdown connection for the two since Adams was acquired in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders ahead of Week 7. Locked in as a QB2 in fantasy, Rodgers will take 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions into his Week 10 matchup, which will be on the road against the Arizona Cardinals.Source: NFL.com
1 day agoDallas Cowboys wide receiver Jalen Tolbert has seen his production decline during the team's two-game losing streak (averaging 3.5 catches, 43.5 yards, zero touchdowns), but he has a solid opportunity to bounce back against a below-average Atlanta Falcons passing defense in Week 9. Coming off a three-catch, 44-yard performance in which he was massively outperformed by CeeDee Lamb, Tolbert could capitalize on an Atlanta defense that particularly struggles to defend perimeter receivers. Still, given how Tolbert has underperformed over the last few weeks, it will be tough to trust him as anything more than a WR3/FLEX play in Week 9. He ranks just outside the top 36 fantasy receivers at the moment.Source: RotoBaller
1 day agoDallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb exploded as the overall WR1 in fantasy football last Sunday, and he'll look to pick up right where he left off during Week 9 versus the Atlanta Falcons. Lamb is coming off a spectacular game in which he caught 13 of 17 targets for 146 yards and two touchdowns, bumping him up to the overall WR4 this season. This week, he gets another favorable matchup in the form of the Falcons, who have been below-average against wide receivers. Atlanta has allowed the sixth-most touchdowns and the eighth-most receptions to opposing receivers in 2024, which bodes well for Lamb, who typically commands plenty of volume and scoring opportunities. He remains a must-start fantasy option this week, ranking as a high-end WR1.Source: RotoBaller
1 day agoDallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott led the backfield in snaps last Sunday, but his role is expected to decrease with the return of Rico Dowdle ahead of Week 9 versus the Atlanta Falcons. Dowdle missed Week 8 due to an illness but has since been removed from the injury report and should have a full workload this Sunday. With that said, Dowdle's return to the lineup isn't necessarily a death spell for Elliott. Neither of the two has been particularly impressive this season, so it's possible that the Cowboys ride the hot hand at running back even if Dowdle earns the game's first snap. Dalvin Cook, who made his season debut last week, could also earn some touches. Both Dowdle and Elliott have lower floors and ceilings this week and should be treated as fringe top-36 running back options in fantasy football.Source: RotoBaller
1 day agoDallas Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle missed last Sunday's loss to the San Francisco 49ers with an illness, but he's off the injury report and expected to play in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons. Dowdle is a likely candidate to lead Dallas' backfield in production. After all, he led the Cowboys' running back room in snaps four times over the five-game span from Week 2 through 6. However, it's worth noting that he was out-snapped and out-produced by Ezekiel Elliott during their last game together in Week 6. Presumably, Dowdle will get first dibs on carrying the ball versus Atlanta, but Dallas won't shy away from riding the hot hand, especially if Elliott or Dalvin Cook play well in the opening quarter. Fantasy managers should treat Dowdle as a low-end RB3 with a low floor and low ceiling.Source: RotoBaller
1 day agoDallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been a frustrating fantasy football option in recent weeks, largely due to his tendency to turn over the football. Prescott has six interceptions and one lost fumble to just four touchdowns over his last three games, but those subpar outings came against talented defenses in the Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, and San Francisco 49ers. This week, Prescott faces the Atlanta Falcons, who have been a little more forgiving to the quarterback position this season. So far, the Falcons have allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, as well as the seventh-most passing touchdowns and the third-most rushing yards. Turnovers are still a concern with Prescott going forward, but fantasy managers should expect his floor and ceiling to increase this week against Atlanta. He ranks just outside the top 12 fantasy quarterbacks at the moment.Source: RotoBaller
1 day agoHouston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud had a rough passing night in a 21-13 loss to the New York Jets, finishing a woeful 11-for-30 passing for 191 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. The second-year quarterback did rush for a career-high 59 yards, largely the result of the pocket breaking down and forcing him to scramble. The Jets' pass rush dominated a patchwork Houston offensive line for a whopping eight sacks, which made things difficult for Stroud. He and the Texans will look to get back on track when they play host to the Detroit Lions in Week 10.Source: ESPN
1 day agoHouston Texans running back Joe Mixon turned in another productive night with 106 yards rushing and a touchdown on 24 carries in a 21-13 loss on Thursday at the New York Jets. It was the fourth straight week in which the veteran running back surpassed 100 rushing yards and added a touchdown. Thursday was the former Cincinnati Bengal's first game of the season without a catch, but Houston completed only 11 passes and allowed eight sacks on a forgettable night. Mixon and the Texans will look to get the entire offense moving again in Week 10 against the Detroit Lions.Source: ESPN
1 day agoFor the first time this season, Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell reached a triple-digit receiving total with 126 yards on six catches in a 21-13 loss against the New York Jets. He was targeted a team-high nine times, but Houston completed only 11 passes for 191 yards as a team. The second-year receiver filled in nicely as the No. 1 option on the Texans, who were playing without Nico Collins (hamstring) and Stefon Diggs (knee). Collins is eligible to return next week, though Dell faces a nice matchup with or without him in Week 10 against the Detroit Lions.Source: ESPN
1 day agoHouston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz finished Thursday night's 21-13 loss at the New York Jets with three catches for 21 yards. The Texans targeted the veteran tight end six times, which ranked second only to wide receiver Tank Dell, but completed just 11 of their 31 passing attempts on the night. Schultz now has failed to hit 30 yards receiving in six of nine games and still does not have a touchdown yet this season. He'll look for a long-awaited breakout in a solid matchup against Detroit in Week 10.Source: ESPN
1 day agoNew Orleans Pelicans guard CJ McCollum (adductor) won't play in Friday's game versus the Pacers. The veteran wasn't available for Wednesday's loss to the Warriors because of adductor soreness. As a result, Jose Alvarado got the start and finished with 16 points, five rebounds, two blocks, and one steal. He also shot 4-for-8 from deep. With that in mind, Alvarado should remain starting in all fantasy lineups. He'll also be a perfect value option for DFS managers.Source: NBA Injury Report
1 day agoAtlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels (hip) won't play in Friday's game versus the Kings. The former Pelican has played well in his first four games with the Hawks, averaging 12.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.8 steals, and 1.0 blocks. However, he's now dealing with a hip flexor strain, so he'll miss his second consecutive contest of the 2024-25 campaign. With De'Andre Hunter (knee) also out for this one, David Roddy and Zaccharie Risacher could continue to benefit, with the duo combining for 34 points in Wednesday's loss to the Washington Wizards. Garrison Mathews could also see some extra minutes, although he's not a dependable fantasy option.Source: NBA Injury Report
1 day agoIndiana Pacers center Myles Turner (ankle) is questionable for Friday's matchup versus the New Orleans Pelicans. The 28-year-old averaged 15.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals in the Pacers' first four games this season. Unfortunately, he missed Wednesday's overtime win over the Boston Celtics because of a sprained ankle. Isaiah Jackson got the start in that one, finishing with 10 points, five rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. Obi Toppin also had his best game of the 2024-25 campaign by amassing 18 points, seven boards, one block, and one steal. If Turner misses another contest, Jackson will likely remain with the first five, with Toppin getting some extra minutes off the bench. Both players would be worth adding to fantasy rosters. However, Turner must be ruled out first.Source: NBA Injury Report
1 day agoNew York Knicks forward/center Karl-Anthony Towns (wrist) is questionable for Friday's contest against the Detroit Pistons. KAT was decent in his first three games as a Knick. Yet, he came to life in Wednesday's win over the Miami Heat, ending the night with 44 points and 13 rebounds while going 4-for-5 from behind the arc. The Knicks are thin as it is underneath the basket, so the team can't afford any more absences. If Towns can't get on the floor, Jericho Sims and Ariel Hukporti could split time underneath the rim, although neither player is worth adding to any redraft roster.Source: NBA Injury Report
1 day agoPhoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal (elbow) has been ruled out ahead of Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. This marks the second game this season that Beal has missed and we're barely a week into the regular season. As a result, Ryan Dunn figures to draw another start with Beal unable to play. Dunn finished with 13 points in 21 minutes when Beal sat out against the Dallas Mavericks. Fantasy managers should expect a similar performance from him on Thursday. There is some low-end streaming appeal from the rookie guard with Beal unable to go.Source: Duane Rankin
1 day agoOrlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero (oblique) is out indefinitely after suffering a torn right oblique muscle. Wow, this sucks for both fantasy managers and basketball fans in general. Banchero was off to an excellent start to the season, including a 50-point effort on Monday. The All-Star forward is set to be re-evaluated in 4-to-6 weeks. It's going to be nearly impossible for the Magic to fill the void left by Banchero. The assumption is that Jonathan Isaac and Moritz Wagner see increased roles for the next month or so. Between the two, Wagner is the better fantasy option given Isaac's injury history. However, both players should see a boost in playing time with the Magic shorthanded at the forward spot.Source: Shams Charania
1 day agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver DJ Chark (groin) has been upgraded to a full participant during Thursday's practice session. The veteran wideout was limited to open the week, but appears to be doing better now. Chark has a chance at making his season debut against the Cleveland Browns in Week 9. His return would be a welcoming sight for the Chargers, but it's hard to trust Chark in fantasy formats right now. Both Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston figure to be ahead of him on the pecking order on an offense that is already run-heavy.Source: Los Angeles Chargers
1 day agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston (ankle) has been upgraded to a full participant in practice on Thursday. Johnston was limited to begin the week, so it seems like he's trending towards playing in Week 9. Johnston has been sidelined since Week 6 due to an ankle issue, but has a good chance to play against the Cleveland Browns. However, Ladd McConkey has become the primary passing option in what is already a run-heavy offense. Johnston can't be trusted as anything more than WR4, assuming he's able to play.Source: Los Angeles Chargers
1 day agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey (hip) was upgraded to a full participant during Thursday's practice. This is great news for fantasy managers after McConkey was limited to begin the week. The rookie wideout has been playing through a hip issue lately, but it doesn't appear to be impacting his performance. He hauled in all six of his targets for 111 yards and two touchdowns last week. Fantasy managers might be able to trust him as a WR2 against the shaky Cleveland Browns secondary in Week 9.Source: Los Angeles Chargers
1 day agoPhiladelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert (hamstring) didn't suit up for Thursday's practice session. It looks like Goedert is trending towards missing his third straight game after back-to-back absences in practice. If that happens, Grant Calcaterra figures to draw another start, but he has been mostly quiet. Last week, Calcaterra hauled in three receptions for 58 yards, but fantasy managers shouldn't get too excited. The Eagles have better pass catchers and Calcaterra has only seen four targets in the last two games. Fantasy managers should be able to find a better streaming option in Week 9.Source: Adam Schefter
1 day agoLas Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (quad) was unable to suit up for Thursday's practice session. White was limited to open the week, but was unable to go on Thursday. Possibly, White was given a rest day on Thursday, but nonetheless it's concerning that he sat out. White missed two games due to a groin issue which allowed Alexander Mattison to see increased looks. Mattison played well during that time and appears to be the lead back going forward. White has only seen five carries over the last two games. He's worth holding in dynasty formats, but his outlook seems bleak right now. He appears to be stuck in a committee which is never good for fantasy value.Source: Vic Tafur
1 day agoLos Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua (knee) was forced to leave early during Thursday's practice due to an injury. The 23-year-old has been dealing with lingering knee issues since last season. This is obviously concerning for fantasy managers, but Nacua appears to have avoided serious injury. Right now, it sounds like a minor issue, but Nacua's status for Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks is still to be decided. There's a good chance he plays after finishing with seven receptions for 106 yards during last week's win over the Minnesota Vikings. If healthy, Nacua is a WR1 for this weekend, but Friday's practice should give fantasy managers more indication on his playing status for Week 9.Source: Adam Schefter
1 day agoOakland Athletics outfielder Daz Cameron was traded to the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations. The 27-year-old appeared in 66 games in Oakland last summer and held a .200/.258/.329 line with five home runs, 15 RBI, and five stolen bases. Cameron previously spent time in the Baltimore organization playing with Triple-A Norfolk during the 2023 season. With Norfolk, Cameron posted a .268/.364/.452 slash line with 16 home runs and 23 stolen bases. The 27-year-old will likely be in the mix for the a spot on the Opening Day Roster but will have few opportunities given how deep the current Baltimore outfield is, consisting of Colton Cowser, Cedric Mullins, and Anthony Santander.Source: Baltimore Orioles
1 day agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitchers Kyle Gibson and Lance Lynn had their club options declined and will be headed to free agency. Gibson logged 169 1/3 innings in his debut season in St. Louis with a 8-8 record, 4.24 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and a 68:151 BB:K ratio. Lynn posted a 3.84 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP with a 7-4 record across 117 1/3 innings last season. Both remained in the starting rotation the entire season. In the same move, the Cardinals also declined the 2025 club option for pitcher Kenyan Middleton. Middleton logged only five innings in the minor leagues this season due to a forearm injury. This transaction allows the Cardinals to trim substantial payroll off of their pitching staff. Currently, the Cardinals rotation consists of Miles Mikolas, Erick Fedde, Sonny Gray, Andre Pallante, and Michael McGreevy.Source: St. Louis Cardinals
1 day agoLos Angeles Angels starting pitcher Roansy Contreras was claimed off of waivers by Texas Rangers earlier on Thursday according to Kiley McDaniel of ESPN. The 24-year-old logged 52 frames with the Angles last summer to the tune of a 4.33 ERA and 1.29 WHIP after being designated for assignment by the Pittsburgh Pirates in May. Contreras operated out of both the rotation and the bullpen in Los Angeles but never exceeded more than three innings in an outing. For now, fantasy managers should expect the right-hander to continue to be deployed out of the bullpen but could be given an opportunity to compete for a spot in the rotation during Spring Training.Source: Kiley McDaniel
1 day agoMemphis Grizzlies forward/center Santi Aldama and small forward Jaylen Wells will join the starting lineup for Thursday's game against Milwaukee. The duo replaces Marcus Smart (ankle) and Desmond Bane (oblique), who were injured in Wednesday's 119-106 loss to Brooklyn. Aldama will make his fourth start of the campaign, while Wells joins the first unit for the first time in his young career. In his previous three starts, Aldama has averaged 13.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.0 blocks. The injuries to Smart and Bane will likely also result in increased usage for Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr.Source: Memphis Grizzlies
1 day agoMinnesota Twins first baseman/outfielder Alex Kirilloff announced his retirement from professional baseball earlier on Thursday on his personal social media account. The 26-year-old emphasized how the numerous injuries he sustained as a professional athlete has taken on toll on him both "mentally and physically." In addition, he expressed that he can no longer give the game the "110%" it requires. Throughout his four-year MLB career with the Minnesota Twins, the former 15th-overall selection held a .248/.309/.412 slash line with 27 home runs, 116 RBI, and a 62:215 BB:K ratio.Source: Minnesota Twins
1 day agoHouston Rockets center Steven Adams (knee, calf) will be in the lineup on Thursday versus Dallas. He has shaken off a questionable designation ahead of the game. Adams made his Houston debut earlier in the week with a six-point, three-rebound effort across 14 minutes against San Antonio. He will struggle to put up meaningful fantasy production as Alperen Sengun's backup. As a result of Adams' return, Jock Landale is in danger of dropping out of the rotation.Source: Jonathan Feigen
1 day agoMemphis Grizzlies guard/forward John Konchar (quadriceps) has been ruled out for Thursday's matchup against Milwaukee. He was back from a two-game absence on Wednesday versus Brooklyn, but Kochar is battling a quadriceps contusion and will step aside once again. The 28-year-old has averaged 5.0 points and 4.7 rebounds in 19.0 minutes this season. His absence is another blow for the team after Marcus Smart (ankle) and Desmond Bane (oblique) were already ruled out earlier. Memphis' bench mob appears set to play a large role in Thursday's contest, with so many regulars out.Source: Memphis Grizzlies PR
1 day agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Jorge Soler is being traded to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange right-hander Griffin Canning according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. Last season with both the Giants and Braves, Soler held a .241/.338/.442 line with 21 home runs, 64 RBI with a 68:141 BB:K ratio. Canning held an underwhelming 5.19 ERA, 1.40 WHIP with a 66:130 BB:K ratio across 171 2/3 innings of work. Soler should be expected to have a spot in the Opening Day lineup either serving as an outfielder or the designated hitter. Canning will likely compete for a spot in a crowded Atlanta rotation that will welcome back ace Spencer Strider who missed most of the 2024 season due to UCL damage in his throwing elbow.Source: Jeff Passan
