3 days agoAnaheim Ducks forward Robby Fabbri (hand) is likely done for the season. He has not played since Feb. 25 due to a hand injury, missing 15 contests. His last appearance against the Buffalo Sabres might end up being his final game for the Ducks, as Fabbri is poised to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He is coming off a three-year, $12 million contract. Unfortunately, Fabbri has struggled with injuries throughout the duration of the deal, making only 140 appearances over three seasons. He will conclude the 2024-25 campaign with eight goals and 16 points in 44 games.Source: Andrew Knoll
3 days agoAnaheim Ducks defenseman Jacob Trouba (undisclosed) could remain in the lineup for Sunday's contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was hurt in Friday's win over the New York Rangers and did not practice on Saturday. However, a team source has told Derek Lee of The Hockey News that Trouba is "in consideration to play" against Toronto. Since arriving from the Rangers, Trouba has registered eight points (one goal, seven assists) in 47 games with the Ducks. He has also racked up 124 blocks and 117 hits. If Trouba cannot play, Oliver Kylington is expected to come into the lineup on the second defensive pairing.Source: Derek Lee
3 days agoNew York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson (ankle) stated his recovery is "going well," adding he's been given the green light to participate in basketball activities. The 28-year-old expects to be ready for the postseason, although he hopes to return before the end of the regular season. Brunson has averaged 26.3 points and 7.4 assists throughout the 2024-25 campaign. Unfortunately, he suffered a sprained ankle nearly a month ago in a loss to the Lakers. While he remains on the shelf, Miles McBride (groin) should stay atop the depth chart. Yet, with McBride and Cameron Payne (ankle) both sidelined, Delon Wright could find himself in the starting lineup, with Landry Shamet and Tyler Kolek coming in for relief.Source: Ian Begley
3 days agoCarolina Hurricanes center Jordan Staal (lower body) will not be in action on Sunday against the New York islanders. He has been ruled out with a lower-body injury, sitting out for the second time in five games. Tyson Jost will be inserted back into the lineup as Staal's replacement. He will skate on the fourth line and does not have any fantasy value. Jesperi Kotkaniemi will start the game as the third-line center, with Jack Roslovic centering the second line. Staal will get some good recovery time after Sunday's action, as Carolina is not scheduled to play until Wednesday.Source: Carolina Hurricanes PR
3 days agoSan Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (calf) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Machado made an early exit on Saturday due to calf tightness, but he appears to be ready now. He'll cover third base and bat third against right-hander AJ Smith-Shawver. Machado started off the season with two hits, but has been hitless since then. Fantasy managers shouldn't be concerned about Machado considering he hit nearly 30 homers and knocked in over 100 runs last season. Fantasy managers can safely get Machado back in their lineups on Sunday.Source: Jeff Sanders
3 days agoPortland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant (knee) won't play on Sunday versus the Knicks. He's already missed nine-straight contests. But the Trail Blazers aren't expected to make the Play-In, so it's tough to say if Grant will be back on the floor at some point before the end of the season. With Anfernee Simons (forearm) questionable and Scoot Henderson (concussion) out, Toumani Camara, Shaedon Sharpe, and Deni Avdija could be more productive than usual. Dalano Banton may also see a healthy uptick in work, giving him added value for fantasy managers.Source: Casey Holdahl
3 days agoPittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin (upper body) will remain sidelined for Sunday's matchup against the Ottawa Senators. He continues to recover from an upper-body injury, missing a third consecutive game. Kevin Hayes has stepped in as the second-line center in place of Malkin, but Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan has opted to switch things up for Sunday's game, with Rickard Rakell set to take over that role. Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust will be joined on the first line by Rutger McGroarty, who will make his first appearance in the big league since October.Source: Josh Getzoff
3 days agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Taj Bradley looked solid on the mound during Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies. The 24-year-old struck out seven batters while allowing two earned runs on seven hits across six innings of work. The biggest issue for Bradley has been his control and he seemed to hitting his spots on Sunday. The Rockies lineup isn't exactly stacked with talent, so we'll see how Bradley does during his next start against the Texas Rangers. Bradley isn't an elite fantasy option, but he's worth rostering in most 12-team standard formats right now.Source: mlb.com
3 days agoSan Francisco Giants relief pitcher Ryan Walker (back) was unavailable to take the mound during Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Instead, Camilo Doval was called upon to hold a three-run lead in the ninth inning. Doval did a nice job as he tossed a scoreless inning and recorded one strikeout for his first save of the season. Manager Bob Melvin said Walker is dealing with back tightness, but it's believed to be a minor issue. The expectation is that Walker will be ready to go within the next few days. Fantasy managers should monitor this situation. Doval would be worth adding if Walker does end up missing some time.Source: Alex Pavlovic
3 days agoSan Francisco Giants relief pitcher Camilo Doval was asked to take the ball with a three-run lead during Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Normally, Ryan Walker (back) would be used in this spot, but he was unavailable for this game. Doval made easy work of the Reds as he tossed a scoreless inning with one strikeout. Doval used to be the primary closer in San Francisco, but now Walker has taken over that role. Doval will likely see occasional save chances, but it sounds like Walker will be available on Monday. That being said, Doval isn't worth adding in most fantasy formats with Walker around.Source: mlb.com
3 days agoDetroit Pistons forward Tobias Harris (Achilles) is expected to play on Sunday night against Minnesota. The veteran has averaged 13.8 points and 6.1 rebounds this season, both down from the 2023-24 campaign. However, he's appeared in 69 games. Harris didn't suit up for Friday's win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, opening the door for Tim Hardaway Jr. to enter the starting lineup. While Harris' anticipated availability should mean fewer scoring opportunities for Hardaway and others, the expected absence of Cade Cunningham (calf) should keep everyone more involved than usual.Source: NBA Injury Report
3 days agoSan Francisco Giants outfielder Heliot Ramos is off to a nice start to begin the 2025 season. On Sunday, Ramos went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the win over the Cincinnati Reds. The 25-year-old took right-hander Nick Martinez deep in the fifth inning to mark his second homer in three games. Ramos is coming off a solid season in 2024 and is looking to build on it this year. He already has two homers and four RBI, so fantasy managers might want to make sure Ramos isn't sitting around on the waiver wire.Source: mlb.com
3 days agoNew York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn believes quarterback Justin Fields is poised for a solid season in New York. "I just think he's ready to break out as a top-notch quarterback," said Glenn of the Ohio State product. "He has a quiet confidence about himself." At present, Fields will get a chance to prove himself as a starter yet again in 2025. Unless the Jets add competition at the position in the draft, the 26-year-old is set to be the franchise's signal-caller. Fields went 4-2 as a starter in Pittsburgh last season but was replaced by Russell Wilson despite respectable on-field performance. This year, he doesn't project to have competition breathing down his neck, but Fields' evolution as a quarterback remains to be seen. This may be the season it all comes together for him, but his rushing upside should keep him in the conversation of a viable fantasy starter while he's manning the offense.Source: Christian Gonzales
3 days agoBaltimore Orioles starting pitcher Tomoyuki Sugano (hand) was removed early during Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. The right-hander was pulled out prior to the bottom of the fifth inning due to cramping in his hand. Before exiting, Sugano allowed, four hits, two earned runs, and struck out one batter across four innings of work. This doesn't sound like a serious injury, so Sugano should be fine to make his next start against the Kansas City Royals. The 35-year-old rookie is probably only worth rostering in deep leagues and AL-only formats right now.Source: Matt Weyrich
3 days agoChicago Cubs first baseman Michael Busch (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The left-handed slugger will get the day off against southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez. Busch is 4-for-17 through the first five games of the season, so maybe a day off will help him get back on track. Justin Turner will take over at first base and bat cleanup against Rodriguez on Sunday. Turner probably won't have regular fantasy value in a bench role, but could be worth a look as streaming option on Sunday.Source: mlb. om
3 days agoDetroit Pistons guard Dennis Schroder (quadriceps) is expected to play on Sunday versus Minnesota. Schroder is coming off another solid outing, amassing 17 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds in Friday's win over the Cavaliers. If he's upgraded from probable, fantasy managers should consider him a must-start, assuming Cade Cunningham (calf) misses a fourth-consecutive contest. However, if both men are ruled out, Marcus Sasser could find his way into the starting lineup, with Tim Hardaway Jr., Jalen Duren, Ausar Thompson, and Malik Beasley in line for more scoring opportunities. That would also apply to Tobias Harris (Achilles), who is listed as probable.Source: NBA Injury Report
3 days agoDetroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham (calf) is doubtful heading toward Sunday's meeting with the Timberwolves. If he doesn't suit up, it will mark his fourth-straight absence. However, the Pistons are going to the playoffs, so the team needs him healthy. Dennis Schroder (quadriceps), who is probable, will likely remain in the starting lineup at the one. Marcus Sasser, coming off a four-point effort in Friday's win over Cleveland, should play better this time around.Source: NBA Injury Report
3 days agoCharlotte Hornets center Mark Williams (foot) won't play on Sunday versus New Orleans. The Hornets aren't going to the playoffs, so it's unknown how much more fantasy managers will have him in their lineups. Williams next opportunity to get on the floor will be on Monday against the visiting Jazz. But as far as Sunday's contest is concerned, Jusuf Nurkic, amassing six points, nine boards, five assists, one steal, and one block in his last start on March 21, will likely roll with the first five. Moussa Diabate should also see extra work from off the bench, giving him streaming potential for category participants in need of a reliable rebounder.Source: NBA Injury Report
3 days agoDallas Cowboys co-owner Stephen Jones notes that quarterback Dak Prescott (hamstring) is "doing great" after hamstring surgery. ESPN's Todd Archer reported the news. "He's very thrilled with where he is, and I know the trainers are too," said Jones. "I feel like he's doing a hell of a job." While this is good news, Jones also reports that the 31-year-old will have "some limitations" in the offseason training program. Prescott will be looking to bounce back in 2025. Aside from the nine games he missed with injury, the Louisiana native wasn't at the top of his game when he was healthy, producing an 11:8 TD:INT ratio and 247.25 yards per game across eight outings. It appears he's on the right track regarding his injury, but Prescott will have other factors working against his rebound, such as a new head coach in Brian Schottenheimer.Source: Todd Archer
3 days agoThe Jacksonville Jaguars have reached a one-year, $1.33 million deal with former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Fred Johnson. Johnson appeared in all 34 games over the past two seasons with the Eagles and is entering his seventh year as a pro, having spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Though the 27-year-old garnered only six starts with Philly, he logged 481 snaps for the team in 2024 (41.57%). He's Jacksonville's fourth addition on their offensive line in free agency, joining teammates Chuma Edoga, Robert Hainsey, and Patrick Mekari. Johnson will serve as a depth piece for the squad but brings valuable experience, as he was part of a unit that helped rush for an Eagles franchise record a season ago.Source: Jacksonville Jaguars
3 days agoTennessee Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker noted that teams are still checking in on trades for the first overall pick in this year's draft. "People are checking in, going through their process. So, we'll see what happens," said Brinker. It seems unlikely that Tennessee will trade out of the No. 1 spot, but it may make sense for them to do so if they aren't trading back too far. The Titans have done their homework on former Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward and will be represented at the Pro Days of Colorado quartrback Shedeur Sanders and wide receiver/defensive back hybrid Travis Hunter. They're even keeping tabs on Penn State pass-rusher Abdul Carter (foot, shoulder), with Brisker stating he is "very much on our radar." Many around the league consider Ward to be a lock for the Titans at No. 1 if they keep the pick. However, the team will continue to do its due diligence in preparation for next month's draft.Source: Jim Wyatt
3 days agoThe Athletics have designated outfielder Esteury Ruiz for assignment. This transaction opened the spot for left-handed pitcher Angel Perdomo, whom the team claimed off waivers from the Angels. Ruiz appeared in 132 contests for the A's during the 2023 campaign and posted a .254/.309/.345 slash line with 24 doubles and one home run. He swiped an impressive 67 bags, which led the American League. However, in 2024, Ruiz appeared in just 29 games at the MLB level and held a modest .200/.270/.382 slash line with five stolen bases. Ruiz will return to Triple-A Las Vegas if he is not claimed on waivers. Fantasy managers should expect Perdomo to compete for a role in the Athletics' bullpen and will likely have a role as a middle-relief option.Source: A's Communications
4 days agoAthletics catcher Shea Langeliers is not in Sunday's starting lineup when the Athletics conclude their opening series against the Seattle Mariners. Langeliers started behind the dish in each of the first three contests and went 2-for-11 with a home run, three RBI, and a 1:3 BB:K. As a result, Jhonny Pereda will get the nod behind the dish and bat eighth. Fantasy managers should expect Langeliers to return to the starting lineup on Monday evening when they host the Chicago Cubs. Last season, Langeliers enjoyed a career season as he went deep 29 times and added 80 RBI. He posted a .224/.288/.450 slash line. He generated an elite 12.8 percent barrel rate but posted a high 27.2 percent strikeout rate. Fantasy managers should continue to view Langeliers as a solid No. 1 catcher in all formats.Source: MLB.com
4 days agoUtah Hockey Club goaltender Karel Vejmelka will be trusted in the crease for a 17th straight game on Sunday versus the Chicago Blackhawks. The Czech netminder has worked tirelessly between the sticks since the 4 Nations break, with Connor Ingram (personal) unavailable. Recently, he has hit a wall, dropping three decisions in a row, including an ugly 8-0 trashing by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Vejmelka holds a 21-20-7 record for the season, boasting a 2.60 goals-against average with a .903 save percentage and one shutout. Utah's No. 1 has not lost four consecutive starts since February 2024 and is in a good spot to end his recent slump, as Chicago has gone 1-8-1 over its last 10 games.Source: Belle Fraser
4 days agoThe imaging on Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez (wrist) all returned negative. Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reported that the 32-year-old could be available to pinch-hit on Sunday and "hopefully" return to the starting nine on Monday. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but it appears Ramirez avoided a significant injury. The third baseman was pulled from Saturday's contest after suffering a right wrist sprain when attempting to steal a base. Gabriel Arias shifted over to the hot corner on Sunday and will likely see most of the opportunities at that position if Ramirez were to miss more time. Fantasy managers should expect the Guardians to exercise caution with their superstar infielder, which could result in him being held out of the lineup occasionally. When healthy, he should be viewed as a must-start option in all formats.Source: Tim Stebbins
4 days agoChicago Blackhawks goaltender Arvid Soderblom will be in the net for Sunday's game against the Utah Hockey Club. The Swedish netminder hopes to break a four-game losing streak. Since February, Soderblom has recorded just one victory, defeating the Anaheim Ducks 6-3 on March 1. He owns an 8-17-7 record for the season and has allowed 3.17 goals with a .899 save percentage. Although Utah is one of the lowest-scoring teams in the league, this matchup is expected to be another frustrating outing for Soderblom, as the bookmakers list the Blackhawks as +177 underdogs for the game.Source: Charlie Roumeliotis
4 days agoChicago Blackhawks defenseman Alec Martinez (hip) will not play on Sunday against the Utah Hockey Club, missing a fourth consecutive game. Although Martinez practiced on Saturday, he is not yet game-ready due to a hip problem. His next opportunity to return will be on Wednesday night against the Colorado Avalanche. Martinez's absence will allow Sam Rinzel to make his NHL debut in Sunday's game. Rinzel, a first-round pick in 2022, has just finished off a productive college career with the Minnesota Golden Gophers. This season, he recorded 32 points (10 goals, 22 assists) in 40 appearances and was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.Source: Ben Pope
4 days agoTexas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is not in Sunday's lineup when the Rangers conclude a series against the Boston Red Sox. Seager was in the starting nine for each of the first three games of the series and will take the final game off. In the batter's box, Seager went 3-for-12 at the plate with three strikeouts and one run. As a result, Jonathan Ornelas will start at shortstop and bat eighth. Seager was dealing with a minor calf injury during the final week of camp. Fantasy managers should monitor his status, but should expect him to return to the lineup on Monday when they face the Cincinnati Reds. Despite missing time last season, Seager posted an elite .278/.353/.512 slash line with an elite .390 xwOBA. He should continue to be viewed as a must-start high-end No. 1 shortstop in all formats.Source: MLB.com
4 days agoThe Miami Marlins have designated right-handed pitcher Brett de Geus for assignment. In a corresponding move, the Marlins promoted right-handed pitcher Xzavion Curry from Triple-A Jacksonville. de Geus tossed one inning at Triple-A and allowed five hits and one earned run. He will now pass through waivers and will lose his spot on the 40-man roster. Last season, de Geus logged 11 1/3 innings in the majors and posted a 7.15 ERA with a 1.59 WHIP. He tallied just seven strikeouts. During the 2023 campaign, the 27-year-old tossed a career-high 50 innings but posted a similar 7.56 ERA and a 1.74 WHIP. Fantasy managers should not expect the right-hander to draw much interest in waivers, given his previous performances in the majors.Source: Miami Marlins
4 days agoUtah Hockey Club defenseman Robert Bortuzzo (lower body) has been activated from Injured Reserve, making him eligible to return to the lineup on Sunday against the Chicago Blackhawks. The veteran blue-liner last played on Jan. 2, missing 25 games due to a lower-body injury. Utah may use Bortuzzo as a replacement for Olli Maatta (lower body), who is a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup. However, fantasy managers should look past Bortuzzo, who has registered only two assists in 16 appearances this season on the offensive end. Without the puck, he has tallied 26 blocks and 20 hits.Source: Utah Hockey Club PR
