Welcome to the August 9th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 8th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- C-MASH does it again (second rocket). 116 MPH exit velocity. Pete Alonso with those Chocolate Milk and Squat Hammies.
- Trea Turner has been caught stealing three times. Maybe he's not a runner anymore.
- Starling Marte hit his first homer of the season. He has dealt with many personal issues this offseason. Show him some love today. Send something out into the Twitterverse for him.
- Zach Plesac not getting the love he deserves w/ only 77% ownership. (5 IP, 7 K vs CWS). DET next. Pump it up.
- Why are 3% of leagues intentionally avoiding Yoan Moncada (third HR)? Check your leagues. These better be four-team leagues.
- Domingo Santana clobbers a ball 454 ft. Wish you were fantasy relevant again.
- Five run lead and you couldn’t get that last out for the W. Ooooh, Gerrit Cole owners are banging their head against the wall this morning.
- Fernando Tatis Jr. (seven) sits down next to Nick Castellanos (seven) and Aaron Judge. Judge ups and walks away. He doesn’t want to share the HR crown (eight).
- Ouch, Tyler Glasnow (2.2 IP, 4 ER). Ok, shake it off. BOS next.
- Giancarlo Stanton mashes a tater (three) & then walks it off to the IL. I told you; you gotta roll and ice those hammies. P.S. It’s Mike Tauchman time. 7% owned. Get him now.
- C’mon Austin Meadows. Stand up & make your presence felt.
- We told you the DET bats would surprise this year. C.J. Cron, JaCoby Jones, Niko Goodrum, and even Miguel Cabrera playing in elementary school field w/ routine homers.
- "You’re still good. Keep pitching.” Derek Holland w/ 9 ER in 5 IP.
- Marcus Semien walks up. “Whataburger?!” He walks in, sees what he likes…Combo Meal! First HR & SB.
- Framber Valdez & Frankie Montas (W) both looked superb. I don’t know why Valdez is only 16% owned. SEA next. Fix it!
- Everybody dancing, dancing, dancing. Juan Soto with first beautiful swinging beat.
- You’re telling me Jake Arrieta silenced the Braves?!
- You want a catcher advantage? J.T. Realmuto w/fourth HR, .333 AVG.
- Gallo letting freedom rain (fourth HR).
- It has been more pungent than normal. Rougned Odor w/ .097 AVG, 1 HR, 0 SB.
- This is the moment. Byron Buxton w/three homers in three Days. I guess 34% of leagues don’t believe he’ll stay healthy.
- There goes Adalberto Mondesi running (two SB). Ran so fast he left six men behind. Not good.
- Jorge Soler gonna enter strongman competition w/448 & 440 ft tosses.
- Jon Berti, the wheels need to be on base to work.
- Disco Infero! Anthony DeSclafani (6 IP, 2 H, 6 K) makes light work of Brew-crew.
- Eugenio Suarez, your third homer is nice, but that .120 AVG, though.
- I think Bo Bichette is catching fire (second SB). Xander Bogaerts shall not be outdone (two).
- Kelly? Merrill Kelly? Well done, young man (W, 2.99 ERA). Color me surprised. 4.24 FIP. Hmmm.
- Trevor Story (third SB) fights to be best SS & top-three finisher in fantasy. Tatis won’t make either easy.
- Austin Slater needed no bell to be saved by. Two shots of 'Clayton Kershaw Who?’
- I see Cody Bellinger (.167 AVG) & Max Muncy (.169 AVG) have yet to get started. Fun offense. Wish Corey Seager could join.
- High LOB% / Low ERA Guys (These guys just love to leave people stranded out on an island. There will be some give back as these aren’t sustainable. No bouncer is big enough to maintain this pace.)
- Shane Bieber 100.00% / 0.83
- Trevor Bauer 100.00% / 0.93
- Lance Lynn 100.00% / 0.49
- Merrill Kelly 100.00% / 2.29
- Adrian Houser 100.00% / 0.75
- Zach Plesac 98.20% / 1.29
- Jake Arrieta 97.60% / 2.45
- Mike Clevinger 97.60% / 3.24
- Zac Gallen 95.20% / 2.81
- Carlos Carrasco 94.60% / 2.5
- Alec Mills 93.00% / 1.38
- Randy Dobnak 92.30% / 0.60
- Brandon Woodruff 91.60% / 2.08
- Alex Cobb 91.60% / 2.51
- Endgame
- Archie Bradley (three).
- Trevor Gott (four)
- Nick Anderson (two). Still a mess.
- Anthony Bass (three). Eyes on Romano.
- Raisel Iglesias (two).
- Rafael Montero (two). Frontrunner?
- Trevor Rosenthal (three). Crystal clear.
- Miguel Castro (one). Cole Sulser in 8th. Hmm.
- Liam Hendriks (five).
- Daniel Hudson implodes. .2 IP, 3 ER. Anthony Santander leaves a mark on your ratios. Sean Doolittle falters as well.
- Easy like Sunday morning. Get out and take in some of that fresh air. Enjoy the day. Take it easy instead of stressing yourself out.
- Don't forget to make little adjustments to your FAAB throughout the day. -Take care of yourself & family.
- No Fear, Just Fantasy.
