Top 200 Dynasty Fantasy Baseball Rankings - Eric Cross' March Updates (2025)

Can you smell the hot dogs? Can you hear the road of the crowd, the crack of the bat, and the smack of the catcher's mitt? Another major league season is upon us and we'll soon be setting lineups every day or week for the next six months. It's a glorious time of year.

With the start of the domestic regular season fast approaching, it's time for another dynasty fantasy baseball rankings update here on RotoBaller. And for this one, I'm expanding from 100 to 200!

What Factors Into My Dynasty Rankings

Many elements go into dynasty rankings, but I primarily weigh the following:

• Current/Recent Performance
• Expected future short-term performance
• Expected future long-term performance
• Profile/metrics analysis
• Durability
• Team Context (it matters a little bit)

Dynasty Fantasy Baseball Rankings Notes

Paul Skenes (SP - PIT)

Honestly, I didn't believe any pitcher would take the crown from Tarik Skubal this quickly, but Paul Skenes is a once-in-a-decade pitching prospect. Once Skenes debuted in May, he immediately cemented himself as one of the best pitchers in baseball with a 1.96 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and 26.9% K-BB rate across 133 innings. It was one of the best rookie pitching seasons in baseball history.

Skenes is already on par with Skubal, and being five and a half years younger gives him the top spot for a pitcher in my current dynasty rankings. Skenes has also added a sinker and a cutter this season as well. That's just not fair, Paul! Nothing is ever certain in baseball, especially with pitching, but the crown could stay atop the head of Skenes for the foreseeable future.

Brent Rooker (UT - ATH)

While being UT-only is a bummer, don't let that shy you away from Brent Rooker in dynasty leagues. Rooker set career-best marks across the board in 2024, highlighted by 39 home runs and 112 RBI to go with a .293/.365/.562 slash line.

Sure, Rooker's contact metrics are still below average but he improved his zone contact and overall contact rates to respectable marks of 82.4% and 68.2% respectively. Those aren't great, but given that Rooker also provided a 16.6% barrel rate, 91.9 mph AVG EV, and 49.6% hard-hit rate, you can live with those contact rates.

Rooker will be moving into a more hitter-friendly home ballpark in Sacramento this season too, which could lead to him joining the 40-homer club. I'm fully on board with the 2024 Rooker breakout and believe he can stick as a borderline Top-50 asset, even as a UT-Only player.

Jackson Holliday (2B - BAL)

Despite a terrible rookie season, Jackson Holliday remains inside my Top-100 overall entering 2025. Yes, the .189/.255/.311 slash line won't make the refrigerator at the Holliday residence, but Holliday still has the upside to become a Top-5 option at the position long-term.

In 208 plate appearances last season, Holliday posted an 8.2% barrel rate, 89.3 mph average exit velocity, 45.1% hard-hit rate, and a 95th percentile sprint speed. But unfortunately, those came with a below-average 80.8% zone contact rate and 70.1% overall contact. Holliday also struck out 33% of the time which is over 10% higher than any mark he posted at any level in the minors.

So while Holliday might not be a batting title contender like he was pegged to be, we should still expect a decent batting average long-term if the contact rates can tick back up closer to his minor league marks, along with the power and speed to push 20/20 annually.

Brenton Doyle (OF - COL)

One of the biggest risers in my dynasty rankings last season was Brenton Doyle. At the start of the season, you'd find Doyle hanging out in the 350-450 range of dynasty rankings, but now he's inside my Top-100. Can he stick as a Top-100 dynasty asset though? I'm learning yes.

Doyle made improvements in several areas which were the reason for his breakout. After posting a 79% zone contact rate, 66.4% overall contact rate, and a 35% strikeout rate in 2023, Doyle improved those metrics to 86.4%, 73%, and 25.4% respectively. Those are all notable improvements and Doyle did so while also improving his quality of contact across the board as well. If these improvements stick, so should Doyle as a Top 100 dynasty asset.

Royce Lewis (SS - MIN)

You might have noticed that Royce Lewis is no longer inside my Top-100 overall. Lewis was already on thin ice as it was but this latest hamstring injury bumped him out. At age 25, Lewis has already dealt with two torn ACLs along with injuries to his oblique, adductor, quad, and now the current hamstring injury.

When healthy, Lewis has flashed stud potential at the plate but has had difficulty remaining consistent while alternating between the lineup and the injured list. Lewis has swatted 33 home runs in 605 plate appearances for his career with an 11% barrel rate. But given all the leg injuries, we have to question if he ever provides any speed impact. The red flags outweigh the green flags right now.

Gerrit Cole (SP - NYY)

With 34-year-old Gerrit Cole needing Tommy John surgery, he takes a massive fall down my rankings this month. And I'm sure those of you rostering him are wondering what to do with him right now in dynasty leagues as he'll be nearly 36 when he returns sometime in the summer of 2026.

Well, there's not a great answer for that. Cole has zero value to both rebuilding and contending teams. So your best bet is to find a mid-pack team that thinks they could compete in a year or two and see if they're interested in Cole. At this point, I'd take a Top-60 SP for Cole if I was contending and needed the arm.
