Zack Wheeler Doomed By Bad Inning
6 years agoAlthough he emerged with a no-decision, New York Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler was let down by a poor second inning. Taking on the Cincinnati Reds at Citi Field on Monday night, he allowed four runs, all coming in the second inning. From that point on, the 28-year-old allowed three more hits, but no runs. His final line saw him go six innings with four runs on seven hits, additionally walking three and striking out four. With the offense scoring four runs of their own, Wheeler would be charged with a no-decision, though his ERA is now up to 5.05. His next start is scheduled for Saturday in Milwaukee against the Brewers.
