Julian Sayin Looking To Build Off Of Strong Debut Season
Ohio State's Julian Sayin strung together a very impressive 2025 season, resulting in him being invited to the Heisman ceremony as a finalist for the trophy. Sayin completed 77% of his passes for 3,610 yards, 32 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, leading the Buckeyes to a perfect 12-0 record in the regular season. However, Sayin's play regressed in the final two games of the season. He struggled against two of the nation's better defenses in Indiana and Miami, turning the ball over three times and taking 10 sacks. Sayin's decision-making and quick release did not look the same that it had all season long when facing top opponents. He will look to rewrite that narrative this upcoming season, as Ohio State faces a much tougher regular season schedule in 2026 than they did in 2025.

College GameDay Set for First Three Weeks
ESPN's College GameDay already has its first three destinations locked into the schedule. The show will open the season in Week 1 in Baton Rouge as Clemson travels to LSU in Lane Kiffin's debut as the Tigers' head coach. In Week 2, the show will head to Austin for a huge primetime showdown between Texas and Ohio State. In Week 3, GameDay is very likely to travel to Oxford for the highly-anticipated LSU-Ole Miss game. This game marks the SEC opener for both teams, and will be Kiffin's return to Oxford after leaving the team prior to last season's playoff run. While not yet confirmed by ESPN, Pat McAfee heavily hinted on his show that GameDay would be at the LSU-Ole Miss game on September 19. On3's Pete Nakos also mentioned on X that the show would be headed to Oxford for the night game.

Jeremiah Smith Aiming For Ohio State Receiving Records
Ohio State star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has been completely dominant since the moment he stepped onto the football field as a true freshman in 2024. Since then, the junior has accumulated 2,558 receiving yards and 27 touchdown receptions through just two seasons. Smith is on pace to break all major school receiving records should he remain healthy this season. He needs 43 receptions to break K.J. Hill's 201 catch record. 341 yards will put him ahead of Emeka Egbuka, who broke the record in 2024. If he can record nine touchdowns, he will usurp Chris Olave's 36 career receiving touchdowns. Smith is gearing up for a historic season in which he hopes to win another national title.

Keshaun Singleton Projects as Auburn's WR1
USF transfer wide receiver Keshaun Singleton followed his coach Alex Golesh to Auburn this offseason. Singleton led the Bulls in receiving in 2025 with 50 receptions for 877 yards and eight touchdowns. With star receivers Cam Coleman, Eric Singleton, and Malcolm Simmons all out the door via transfer portal, Auburn's receiving room is a completely revamped group. According to On3, Singleton has "come in and been all business, shaping up to be the Tigers' No. 1 receiver." It sounds as if the junior is shaping up for another season of leading his team in receiving. Singleton is joined by USF transfers Chas Nimrod and Jeremiah Koger, as well as freshmen DeShawn Spencer and Brian Williams in the receiving room.

Jeremiah Cobb Impresses New Auburn Staff
Auburn running back Jeremiah Cobb is the only returning offensive starter from a season ago. Cobb was sixth in the SEC in rushing, putting up 969 yards and five touchdowns in a bad offensive environment. Incoming head coach Alex Golesh added more talent in the backfield in Bryson Washington (Baylor), Tae Meadows (Troy), and Nykahi Davenport (USF), but it is Cobb who has been getting the buzz from the coaching staff this spring.

He held offers from many power conference programs including Arkansas, Baylor, Florida State, Oregon, Kentucky, Texas A&M, and more. Virginia Tech Lands Commitment from Four-Star QB Peter Bourque
Four-star quarterback in the Class of 2027 Peter Bourque announced his commitment to James Franklin and Virginia Tech on Thursday, according to Rivals on X. The Marion, Massachusetts native is the No. 7 quarterback (No. 82) overall in next year's recruiting cycle. Bourque was previously committed to Michigan before Sherrone Moore was let go, and Georgia and Penn State were in the running for him after he reopened his recruitment. This is a big win for Franklin, who is tasked with turning around a Hokies program that has been struggling for most of the post-Frank Beamer era.

NFL Veteran Tom Moore Joins Iowa Coaching Staff
Veteran offensive coach Tom Moore, who began his coaching career in 1961 with Iowa, is joining the 2026 Hawkeyes coaching staff as a senior consultant to the head coach, according to Scott Dochterman of The Athletic. The 87-year-old played quarterback at Iowa in the late 1950s before a decorated career as a coach. Moore began his NFL coaching career as the Pittsburgh Steelers' wide receiver coach in 1977 and has spent time with nine pro organizations. He was Peyton Manning's offensive coordinator from 1998 to 2008 with the Indianapolis Colts and has remained in the game ever since. This is a fun homecoming hire for Moore and Iowa, respectively, and he might bring a new perspective and wrinkle to the run-heavy Iowa offense in 2026.

Can Cam Cook Dominate in Return to Big 12?
West Virginia running back Cam Cook led all FBS players in rushing yards last season with Jacksonville State. The rising senior accumulated 295 rushes for 1,659 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. He added 30 receptions for 286 yards in 13 games. He won the Conference USA Player of the Year Award. The Texas native spent his first two collegiate seasons at TCU, totaling 135 rushing attempts for 518 yards and nine touchdowns. He averaged just 3.8 yards per carry. Stepping back into the Big 12, it's fair to question whether or not Cook can replicate his 2025 success in the Conference USA. However, we've seen college players take massive offseason leaps heading into their junior and senior campaigns, and the Mountaineers are counting on him to carry the load offensively in 2026.

ACC, Big 12 Support 24-Team College Football Playoff
According to On3's Brett McMurphy, both the ACC and the Big 12 support a 24-team College Football Playoff. "We like 24, we want 24," Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark told On3. "There are too many teams getting left out, and 24 teams provides the type of access that is warranted." ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips echoed Yormark's opinion. "When you're leaving national championship-contending teams out of the playoff, you don't have the right number," Phillips said. "We lived through it, we suffered through it with Florida State, when the field was four." Three of the four Power 4 conference commissioners are now in support of a 24-team field, as the Big Ten's Tony Petitti was the first one on this wave. SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey remains opposed to 24 teams, instead preferring 16 teams. Either way, CFP expansion seems imminent, and it's starting to sound like the 24-team model is getting more likely as time moves forward.

Anthony Colandrea Looking to Elevate Nebraska Back to National Contention
Nebraska starting quarterback Anthony Colandrea, who comes to Lincoln after two seasons at Virginia and one season at UNLV, has high expectations for Matt Rhule's Huskers in 2026. "I want to win a national championship; I want to go to the playoffs," Colandrea told On3. "I have high expectations, and we have high expectations as a team. "When I first got here, it felt like the bar was eight or nine wins, and I was like, no -- we want to win 11, 12 games. We've got to go win. That's the biggest thing." Colandrea is stepping in for former blue-chip QB recruit Dylan Raiola, who has moved on to Oregon. In 33 career games with the Cavaliers and Rebels, Colandrea has tallied 7,542 passing yards, 49 passing touchdowns, 1,151 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, and 29 interceptions. He led UNLV to 10 wins and a spot in the Mountain West title game a season ago. With games against Indiana, Oregon, and Ohio State on the schedule, leading the Huskers to 11 or 12 wins would be quite the feat.

Kwazi Gilmer Set for Big Impact at Nebraska
Former UCLA wide receiver Kwazi Gilmer transferred to Nebraska this offseason, and starting quarterback Anthony Colandrea has been impressed with him, according to On3. While catching passes from Nico Iamaleava last season, Gilmer led the Bruins in receptions (50), receiving yards (535), and receiving touchdowns (four). He saved his best performance for the end of the season, catching 10 passes for 73 yards and a touchdown in the rivalry game against No. 17 USC. The Huskers are looking to take a step forward offensively after the departures of Dylan Raiola and standout running back Emmett Johnson, and Gilmer's chemistry with Colandrea will play a significant part in making that happen. Gilmer brings 24 games of experience in the Big Ten with him to Lincoln.

In his lone season at the FBS level, the 290-pound Woods tallied 16 tackles (nine solo) and one sack in nine games for the Bobcats. Woods figures to join a talneted defensive line headlined by Will Heldt in 2026.

Isaac Brown Has All-American Upside in 2026
University of Louisville running back Isaac Brown decided to return to the Cardinals program after initially considering entering the transfer portal, a big win for Jeff Brohm. Brown is undoubtedly one of the top ball carriers in the country, and his production proves it. On just 101 rushing attempts during last year's injury-plagued sophomore season, Brown tallied 884 yards and seven touchdowns. His 8.8-yard rushing average ranked No. 1 nationally among players with at least 100 carries. He posted nearly 1,200 rushing yards as a freshman in 2024 and was clearly well on his way to doing so if he had a full season in 2025. With the inexperienced Ohio State quarterback transfer Lincoln Kienholz under center for the Cardinals in 2026, expect Brown to be the engine of Louisville's offense. With 1,148 rushing yards as a junior, he could move into second all-time in career rushing yards by a Cardinal, trailing only Lamar Jackson.
