Zack Britton Should Be Activated After All-Star Break
3 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Zack Britton (hamstring) should be activated from the injured list after the All-Star break, according to manager Aaron Boone. Britton suffered a Grade 1 left hamstring strain in the eighth inning on June 25 against the Boston Red Sox and has been out since then. The left-hander threw live batting practice on July 8 in Seattle and another live BP session in Houston. Britton has only thrown 4 1/3 innings over five outings in 2021 because of injuries, but he'll return to being a crucial setup arm in the Yankees bullpen in the second half of the season. While closer Aroldis Chapman finished the first half on a sour note, it's unlikely that Britton will get enough save chances down the stretch to warrant much fantasy consideration in leagues that only count saves.
