Zach Thompson Activated, Set To Start Sunday
2 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates activated right-handed pitcher Zach Thompson (forearm) from the 15-day injured list on Sunday. He will be the team's starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. This news dropped shortly before the first pitch on Sunday and it was a bit of a surprise. Jose Quintana had been lined up to start Sunday's game, but his next start is now being pushed back to Tuesday. Thompson was on the injured list for the minimum 15 days due to right forearm nerve inflammation. He's made 13 appearances (12 starts) this year and he's pitched to a 4.47 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP.
