Friday was far from Zach Eflin's (9-3) most efficient start as a Tampa Bay Ray this season, but he was able to limit the Kansas City Royals scoring to just two long balls en route to his ninth win and eighth quality start of the year. The 29-year-old allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings in Friday's 11-3 victory over the Royals. He picked up his ninth win of the season. After a leadoff homer from Nick Pratto, Eflin settled into a groove early, retiring eight of the next nine hitters before issuing a walk to Bobby Witt Jr. followed by a two-out, two-run, game-tying bomb to Salvador Perez in the third inning. A handful of walks and singles followed, but Eflin stranded runners for the next three frames to finish with seven strikeouts. If that's a rough outing for the Rays' breakout middle-of-the-rotation arm, then fantasy managers will continue to be thrilled. Eflin's 3.35 ERA is backed nicely by 3.13 xFIP, and while he'll never be a strikeout king, his consistency, length, and fantastic run support will keep him in the top-25 starting pitcher conversation. Those who drafted Eflin should keep enjoying the ride for months to come. Eflin will look to build on Friday's performance in his next start Thursday on the road against the Diamondbacks. --Tommy Bell
