Zac Gallen Picks Up A Quality Start Against Atlanta
1 year agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen took a no-decision on Thursday when he allowed three runs on five hits with five strikeouts over seven innings in a 7-5 loss to the Atlanta Braves. Gallen actually had a perfect game going through five innings but eventually, the star-studded Atlanta offense had a breakthrough. Orlando Arcia got it going in the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo home run then slugger Matt Olson tacked on a two-run shot of his own in the bottom of the seventh. It's never easy facing the Braves and even after giving up the two home runs, Gallen was still in line for the win before the D-Backs bullpen blew it in the eighth inning. That said, Gallen still has picked up a quality start in 2-of-3 turns. He'll carry a 3.18 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 135:26 K/BB ratio over 130 1/3 innings (20 starts) on the year. He'll face the St. Louis Cardinals at home on Tuesday in his next start.
