Yusei Kikuchi Notches First Win Despite Shaky Outing
6 years agoIt wasn't the best start of his major league career for Mariners pitcher Yusei Kikuchi on Saturday, but he did manage to pick up the victory. He went five innings scattering 10 hits and two walks while giving up four runs as the offense helped him out in the 6-5 win. Kikuchi only managed three punchouts on the night and has 23 over his first 32.2 innings of work. The lefty's 4.68 ERA and 1.32 WHIP are nothing to boast about either but better days still lie ahead for the rookie. Kikuchi will take on the Rangers next week, but it's anticipated that it will be one of his scheduled short starts, so he may only throw an inning or two. Owners with weekly lineup changes can put Kikuchi on the bench for this matchup.
