Yusei Kikuchi Deals With Cramps In Wednesday Outing

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi was dealing with left calf cramps in the sixth inning during his outing on Wednesday against the Royals. The Japanese left-hander allowed five hits (two home runs) and three earned runs while walking one and striking out just three in six innings in the no-decision in KC, but he was able to get the quality start despite cramping late in the game. He now has a 4.15 ERA with 15 strikeouts and three walks in 21 2/3 frames over his first four starts. Kikuchi will be a mixed league option for most of the year, but his homer allowance so far should raise eyebrows.
