Yusei Kikuchi Deals With Cramps In Wednesday Outing
6 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi was dealing with left calf cramps in the sixth inning during his outing on Wednesday against the Royals. The Japanese left-hander allowed five hits (two home runs) and three earned runs while walking one and striking out just three in six innings in the no-decision in KC, but he was able to get the quality start despite cramping late in the game. He now has a 4.15 ERA with 15 strikeouts and three walks in 21 2/3 frames over his first four starts. Kikuchi will be a mixed league option for most of the year, but his homer allowance so far should raise eyebrows.
