Yunior Marte Records First Save
1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Yunior Marte was asked to take the ball with a one-run lead in the ninth inning during Sunday's game against the Oakland Athletics. The Phillies were limited on short relievers after going through most of their bullpen on Saturday. That being said, they gave Marte a chance to show what he can do in this one. The right-hander struck out the side to earn his first career major league save. The 28-year-old has been hit around quite a bit this season as he holds a 6.89 ERA. Hopefully, this is a turning point for Marte, but he's unlikely to get many more save chances right now.
