3 years agoHouston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez slugged a ninth-inning grand slam off of Detroit Tigers right-hander Bryan Garcia in a 12-3 Astros win on Thursday. Alvarez finished the night 2-for-6 with one home run and five RBI. The 24-year-old has now homered in three of the past four games and sits at 12 bombs total on the season with a line of .307/.367/.534 and 47 RBI. The 2019 American League Rookie of the Year has been as advertised this season and should remain a middle-of-the-order force in a deep Houston lineup.--Patrick Doris
