Yordan Alvarez Has Monster Night Tuesday
3 years agoHouston Astros designated hitter/outfielder Yordan Alvarez went 3-for-3 with two home runs, three runs, five RBI and one walk during a 9-6 win over the Oakland A's on Tuesday night. The 24-year-old returned from the paternity list with a two-run shot in the first inning and a solo blast in the fifth, with both homers coming off A's starting pitcher Chris Bassitt. The slugger now has 16 homers, 56 RBI, 53 runs scored and a .308/.378/.559 slash line across 70 games. Alvarez has 12 appearances in the outfield and should see his eligibility in some leagues expand from strictly utility. This development will only enhance the value for the 2019 American League Rookie of the Year as he continues to be a force in a loaded Astros lineup.
