Yonny Chirinos With Reasonable Outing Sunday Versus Minnesota
7 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Yonny Chirinos had his first outing since being named the fourth member of the starting rotation. He went 4 2/3 innings, allowing two runs while striking out six. He had started the season with multiple scoreless appearances as he worked to build up his arm. Chirinos was named the Rays 2017 minor league pitcher of the year, so he comes with some talent. The award is also notable for the fact he beat out Brent Honeywell. He will be a deep league option for depth as long as he remains in the rotation without falling off the cliff in terms of production.
