Yohander Mendez Promoted To Double-A
6 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitching prospect Yohander Mendez has been promoted from High-A Down East To Double-A Frisco. Mendez is the team's No. 7 prospect, according to MLB.com, but he was sent to Single-A last month for violating team rules in the majors. The left-hander had allowed six earned runs and eight hits over just 3 2/3 innings in two outings (one start) for the Rangers this year, but he had a 3.48 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 27 strikeouts in 31 innings over five starts in High A before his promotion. Mendez throws strikes and keeps the ball down, but he'll need to develop a better breaking pitch in order to have success in the majors.
