Yoenis Cespedes Starting At First In Minor League Game
6 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes (hip) is starting at first base in a minor league rehab game on Wednesday. It's a bit of a surprise, as manager Mickey Callaway said that Cespedes wouldn't be playing first base despite taking ground balls at the position recently. Cespedes will likely return to designated hitter duties this weekend with the team playing on the road against the Yankees in an American League park. He'll then likely return to left field, but he could see occasional time at first base if the Mets need him there. Will he get enough starts to become fantasy eligible at the position? Probably not, but you never know. That'd certainly be a welcome development for his fantasy owners. Cespedes hasn't played in the bigs since early may, and his owners are hoping he can produce right away to begin the second half.
