Yimi Garcia Takes A Loss Without Recording An Out

Miami Marlins closer Yimi Garcia took the loss in Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals without even recording an out. Garcia was called on to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning in a tie game (which is not when you should use your closer on the road, but Don Mattingly manages the Marlins) and he gave up a walk-off homer to the first batter of the inning, Paul Goldschmidt. The good news is that Garcia only threw four pitches, so he should be fresh for another non-save situation in Wednesday's game. Garcia's record falls to 3-5 and his ERA goes up to 2.77. He has a pretty solid grasp on the closer role in Miami, but there's plenty of reason to believe this is only the beginning of a significant regression.
