Yimi Garcia Earns Fifth Save For Marlins
4 years agoMiami Marlins closer Yimi Garcia picked up his fifth save on Wednesday at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Garcia got Daulton Varsho to pop out and Stephen Vogt to strike out before allowing a two-out single to Pavin Smith. He quickly shut the door afterward, as Asdrubal Cabrera lined out to right field to end the game. Now sporting a 2.03 ERA with a 0.98 WHIP, Garcia's ratios would give him mixed-league consideration even without the closers' job. Since taking over as Miami's ninth-inning option on April 10, Garcia has held opponents to a .242 on-base percentage while allowing only two runs. Garcia also has exclusively been used in the ninth inning or later since that April 10 date, as the Marlins are uninterested in deploying him in low-leverage spots. For fantasy managers, they need to treat Garcia like a top-flight closer for the rest of the season.
