Yimi Garcia Blows A Save And Loses On Wednesday
3 years agoMiami Marlins closer Yimi Garcia blew up in Wednesday's loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, taking a blown save and a loss. Garcia was tasked with closing out a 5-3 game and only got one out before allowing the Blue Jays to walk off with a series sweep. Garcia's 1/3 of an inning included three hits, three runs, and two walks. His ERA rose to 2.86, but that's still well below his expected ERA, which is near five. This could be the start of the Yimi Garcia regression that analytically-minded Marlins fans have been worried about all season. His job is safe for now, but manager Don Mattingly loves Anthony Bass so it might not take much for him to make the switch back to Bass if Garcia keeps struggling.
