Yankees Offering Manny Machado $220 Million?
6 years agoMLB.com analyst Jim Duquette heard on Friday night that the New York Yankees made an offer to free-agent shortstop Manny Machado in the range of seven or eight years for $220 million. However, "a lot of teams are in that range also" and "another club has gone further than that." The Phillies and White Sox are also seen as finalists for Machado, but the Yanks seem to be his preference. New York currently has Miguel Andujar at third base and also added Troy Tulowitzki and DJ LeMahieu in free agency, so they don't particularly need Machado, although he'd certainly be an upgrade. Machado is unlikely to get the 10 years and $300 million he was seeking initially, but he'll get paid as one of the best all-around shortstops in the game before the season starts.
