Yankees Lukewarm On Pursuing Manny Machado
6 years agoThe New York Yankees baseball operations and scouting departments are now "lukewarm" on signing Los Angeles Dodgers impending free-agent shortstop Manny Machado after seeing some of his antics in the postseason, according to major league sources. The Yanks have more of a need at the position with Didi Gregorius (elbow) expected to miss half the year after having Tommy John surgery. Machado showed that he doesn't always like to run out ground balls and confirmed his reputation for being somewhat of a dirty player. It won't keep the Yankees from necessarily signing the superstar, but it's something to keep an eye on. Machado hit .297/.367/.538 between the Orioles and Dodgers this year with 37 home runs, 107 RBI, 84 runs scored and 14 stolen bases, so he'll be a early fantasy pick no matter where he lands on the free-agent market.
