Yankees Likely To Seek Outfield, Catching Help Over Pitching
6 years agoThe New York Yankees have been active this trade season, acquiring additions like relief pitcher Zach Britton and starter J.A. Happ, while trading away pieces like relievers Chasen Shreve and Giovanny Gallegos. With the deadline on the horizon, the Yankees might not be done. While they've been linked to rumors regarding starting pitchers (like Chris Archer), MLB Network's Joel Sherman reports it's more likely the Yankees seek out outfield and catching help over more pitching. After injuries sustained to Aaron Judge (wrist), Gary Sanchez (groin), and Clint Frazier (migraines), the Bombers find themselves missing depth at key positions. While they're unlikely to make a play for a high-profile outfielder (like Nicholas Castellanos) or catcher (like J.T. Realmuto), there are other players still available. A return to the Bronx for Toronto Blue jays outfielder Curtis Granderson might not be too far-fetched, although the Yankees making a deal with the New York Mets for catcher Devin Mesoraco might.
