Yadier Molina Could Miss Three Weeks
5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Shildt said that catcher Yadier Molina (thumb) could miss three weeks with a strained thumb. Molina doesn't have a set timetable, but he'll need at least 10 days to recover and heal. Matt Wieters will be the primary backstop with Molina out and is worth picking up in NL-only and two-catcher leagues for the time being. The 36-year-old is having a tougher time staying healthy as he ages, but he remains relevant in most leagues because of the sad state of the catching position. Molina is slashing a modest .261/.286/.368 with four home runs, 24 runs, 36 RBI and four stolen bases in his 261 at-bats in 2019.
