Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts homered for the second consecutive day Friday night, knocking his 20th long ball of the year against the Texas Rangers. He went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the game. Bogaerts now has hits in 10 of his last 12 games, with five of those being multi-hit affairs. He's hearing up at just the right time for fantasy managers pushing to make the playoffs.--Doug Goldring

San Diego Padres shortstop Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored for the Padres in Sacramento on Wednesday, and since the team only had two runs, he played a huge part in securing the 2-1 victory that also secured the series win. Bogaerts hit second in the order on Thursday but has typically been hitting fourth or sixth. He has played in all 13 of the Padres' games this season, logging every inning at shortstop and going 14-for-46 (.304) with three stolen bases, four doubles, and seven runs scored. His production is a little inflated due to a .378 BABIP, but he has done a good job contributing to the Padres' strong start to the season and is a serviceable option for NL leagues, even though he hasn't shown much power yet this year.--Zach Thompson - RotoBaller

According to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com, San Diego Padres infielder Xander Bogaerts is expected to play shortstop during the 2025 season. Last season, Bogaerts logged 85 starts at the keystone and only 20 at shortstop. However, the 32-year-old is expected to return to his primary position this upcoming season. Across 111 contests last season, Bogaerts posted a .267/.307/.381 line with 15 doubles, 11 home runs, and 13 stolen bases. Under the hood, he generated a solid .262 xBA but struggled to generate power as he posted a poor 33.2 percent hard-hit rate. With Bogaerts returning to shortstop, fantasy managers should expect Jake Cronenworth to cover the keystone. Earlier this offseason, the Padres lost infielder Ha-Seong Kim to the Tampa Bay Rays. Even though Bogaerts will spend most of his time at shortstop, he carries extra fantasy value in 2025, given that he still holds second-base eligibility on most formats.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

San Diego Padres shortstop Xander Bogaerts (hamstring) is starting at shortstop and hitting sixth for the Friars for Game 3 of the National League Division Series on Tuesday at Petco Park against the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers and right-hander Walker Buehler. Donovan Solano will start on the bench, with David Peralta serving as the designated hitter and batting seventh. Bogaerts had to leave the Game 2 win on Sunday after hitting a home run due to a hamstring cramp, but after a day off on Monday, the 32-year-old is ready to go again. He's gone 3-for-8 with the homer and three RBI in the first two games of the NLDS but has just one hit in seven career at-bats with a strikeout against Buehler. Meanwhile, Peralta, who also homered in Game 2, has hit .226 (7-for-31) with two doubles, three RBI, four walks and six strikeouts against Buehler in his career.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

San Diego Padres shortstop Xander Bogaerts (hamstring) left Game 2 of the NLDS on Sunday against the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers in the eighth inning due to hamstring cramping. Bogaerts felt the discomfort earlier in the game, but was able to play through it and actually homered in the eighth before leaving. It is most likely a precautionary measure, as the Padres were up 7-1 when Bogaerts was removed. He said he thinks he will be fine, so expect to see him back in the lineup for Game 3 barring a setback.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller
