Wily Peralta Locks Down Seventh Save
6 years agoKansas City Royals closer Wily Peralta looked sharp again as he finished off his seventh save of the season on Monday night. It was Peralta's first save in the month of August due to poor team play, but he worked around a walk without an issue to take care of business. Peralta was roughed up Sunday in a non-save situation against the Cardinals, so his ERA is inflated at 3.86, but he's yet to blow a save opportunity when it's been handed to him. The former starter is only 29 years old, so there's a chance that closing could be a second calling in his baseball career a la John Smoltz. Unfortunately, his walk numbers are still astronomical and make him a bit of a roller coaster at the moment. He hasn't had a misstep yet, but luck will eventually catch up with him.
