Willy Adames Joins Jumble At Second Base
7 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays will give at least five players time at second base in spring training. Manager Kevin Cash named Micah Johnson, Daniel Robertson, Ryan Schimpf and Joey Wendle as players who will see time at second base when he was asked. Later, he said that Willy Adames will mostly see time at shortstop but also some at second base. The logjam hurts the value of the first four guys, though Robertson and Schimpf will also get some repetitions in the outfield. We would say that none of those four become much of a fantasy option outside of the deepest leagues until one of them seizes the vast majority of time at second for the regular season. Adames seems unlikely to be the next great power hitter at shortstop, but he still is a great add in dynasty formats for those who do not have any of the top few amazing young shortstops already.
