William Byron Rolling Into Darlington Raceway
4 years agoHendrick Motorsports driver William Byron will start from the third position in Sunday's Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. Fighting for his playoff life, Byron punched his ticket by winning last Saturday night's Coke Zero 400 at Daytona, his first career Cup Series victory. Byron will look to carry that momentum into Darlington, where he ran well in the double-header. Despite a poor finish of 35th in the first race, Byron won the first stage and was running in the top-five when a flat tire sent him into the wall. Byron then finished a solid 12th in the second race. Byron's cost in DFS is below-average, but he has no upside for position differential. There is a high chance that Byron will end up in the negative for that category, so he doesn't appear to be the best selection for Sunday's race. However, he may have some newfound confidence after getting his first win, but it would be risky to play him this week.
