William Byron Leads Hendrick Charge And Qualifies Fifth
2 years agoWilliam Byron was not the name most expected to see as top Hendrick Motorsports qualifier for the Ally 400. Yet, here we are. Byron will start fifth on Sunday evening ahead of Kyle Larson (7th) and Chase Elliott (14th). The No. 24 car never led a lap just outside of Nashville but did finish third in 2021. Last year, Byron had problems while running in the top ten and dropped all the way to 35th. He is another one of those drivers who does not get rattled by changeable conditions. With a slight temperature drop, Byron's car could get faster as the race goes along.
