William Byron Has Issues Qualifying At Chicago
1 year agoWilliam Byron did not find the street course at Chicago so pleasant. He finished 22nd in qualifying and will have to work hard much like he did at Sonoma (+12 place differential). If the race turns into a shorter interval scenario, Byron has a shot at moving up position-wise. His five-lap speed was good but ten-lap was an unmitigated disaster. The Hendrick Motorsports Racing driver seemed to missed the apex and exits on turns later in laps. Even the turn onto South Columbus Drive almost caused a mishap. Again, a top ten is not a given as Byron has finished outside that spot five out of the last six road races.
