Willi Castro 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: The Ultimate Real-Life Utility Guy Makes For A Good Bench Bat On Your Fantasy Team
1 month agoLooking at the Minnesota Twins roster, it's unclear where utility player Willi Castro will play most of the time, but he will surely play somewhere almost every day. Last season, Castro played 158 games and started at least 14 games at SS, 2B, LF, CF, and 3B. He will likely platoon with Matt Wallner or Trevor Larnach and fill in for the oft-injured trio of Byron Buxton, Carlos Correa, and Royce Lewis. Fantasy production-wise- he'll likely be an average contributor across the board as he was last season. In 2024, he had a .247 average with 12 HR, and 2025 will likely be much of the same. The 27-year-old did post a solid 108 wRC+, .317 wOBA, and a career-high 36.8% hard-hit rate in 2024. The big X-factor for Castro's fantasy value will be how much he runs. He stole 33 bases in 2023 but has never stolen more than 14 in any other season. His ideal spot on your fantasy team is like his role for the Twins. ATC projects Castro to slash .245/.318/.380 with 11 home runs and 18 stolen bases over 534 plate appearances in 2025. Castro is ranked 255 overall in the latest RotoBaller rankings, 30 spots lower than his current 225 ADP. Fantasy managers shouldn't plan for him to start at any position, but being able to fill in anywhere is super valuable in deep leagues, given his solid production across the board.
