Will Warren Demoted After Tuesday’s Start
3 months agoNew York Yankees starting pitching prospect Will Warren was sent back down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after making his MLB debut on Tuesday afternoon against the Philadelphia Phillies. Warren was called to make a spot start for Gerrit Cole, who was dealing with some general fatigue. The right-hander logged a no-decision as he tossed five ⅓ innings of four-run ball with four hits, two walks, and six punchouts. The 25-year-old is considered one of the top pitching prospects in the Yankee system. At Triple-A this season, the Southern Louisiana University product has struggled with a 6.11 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. Warren could get another opportunity later in the season to make another spot start and could be worth stashing in deeper redraft leagues if he can get settled at Triple-A.
