Will Vest Impressing As Rule 5 Pick
4 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Will Vest, the team's Rule 5 pick from the Detroit Tigers, has done nothing but impress so far this year despite pitching in just 132 1/3 minor league innings before 2021, with only 33 2/3 frames coming above Class A. The Mariners didn't have a single written scouting report on Vest since he had been in the low levels of the minors. The converted infielder from Stephen F. Austin University has allowed one earned run over 9 2/3 big league innings this year, good for a 0.93 ERA. The 25-year-old right-hander has a good shot of sticking on Seattle's major league roster all year at this rate. While he's a reliever on the rise for the M's, he's stuck in middle relief for now and is not on the fantasy radar.
