6 years agoCincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto had a disappointing 2018 season by his standards, hitting .284 with a .417 on-base percentage, .419 slugging percentage, 125 OPS+ and 131 wRC+. The 34-year-old didn't have his typical second-half resurgence and he lacked a lot of power. Votto actually had a better average exit velocity (88.1 mph) last year than he did in 2017 (87.5). He thinks he was releasing the barrel of his bat early, which affected his contact point and caused him to hook the ball more. Age concerns are valid, but Votto is still very useful in OBP leagues especially, and he remains a top-10 fantasy first baseman.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
