Wil Myers In Padres Lineup For Game 1, Brandon Drury Sitting
2 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder/first baseman Wil Myers is in the starting lineup for Game 1 of their series against the New York Mets and Max Scherzer, playing first base and hitting sixth for the Friars. Myers starting means that trade-deadline acquisition Brandon Drury is on the bench for Game 1. Drury had been playing regularly with the Padres but slashed just .238/.290/.435 after the trade. Myers slashed .261/.315/.398 on the season, so their numbers are fairly comparable. Myers had also been hot his past few games, going 4-for-11 (.364) with two homers in his last three games, and he has good career numbers vs. Scherzer. Both may have played into the decision to play him. Expect both Myers and Drury to receive playing time in this series.
