Wil Myers Begins Rehab Assignment, Manuel Margot Cleared
7 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Wil Myers (elbow) is batting third in his first rehab game Tuesday in Lake Elsinore. Myers, who hasn't played since April 2, is on track to return for the weekend series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He sports a .750 OPS with a home run in just 12 plate appearances. Meanwhile, outfielder Manuel Margot (ribs) has been cleared for baseball activities. Margot has struggled out of the gate in 2018, slashing .159/.245/.250 with a homer and two steals. The return of both Opening Day starters clouds the on-field situation in San Diego. It's possible outfielder Jose Pirela slides to second base to keep his bat in the lineup, leaving outfielders Hunter Renfroe and Franchy Cordero to battle for playing time. Once the Pads outfield returns to full strength, Myers and Pirela are the only recommended fantasy options, while Margot merits bench consideration in most leagues until the situation clarifies.
