White Sox Leaving Offer On Table For Manny Machado
6 years agoThe Chicago White Sox are leaving their current offer on the table with the growing belief that they will land free-agent shortstop Manny Machado. It's a similar situation that the Red Sox had last year when they signed outfielder J.D. Martinez to a five-year, $110 million deal on Feb. 26 and gave him opt outs after 2019 and 2020. However, Machado would likely receive more years and more money in his deal than Martinez did. Chicago would be a good landing spot for Machado as they attempt to get closer to contention in 2019 with several of their big prospects likely to debut this year. Machado is one of the best players in baseball on offense and defense and should come off the board late in the first round of drafts no matter where he ends up.
