Whit Merrifield Tallies Three Singles In Sunday's Loss
3 years agoKansas City Royals second baseman/outfielder Whit Merrifield was one of the only offensive bright spots for the team in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Texas Rangers. Merrifield went 3-for-4 with three singles in the game. He drove in the team's only run in the fifth inning. Only three other Royals recorded hits in the game as Rangers starter Jordan Lyles pitched seven strong innings before the bullpen closed things out. Merrifield is now slashing .279/.328/.412 over 76 games on the year. He's recorded at least one hit in 12 of his last 13 games and his 21 stolen bases lead the majors.
