Whit Merrifield Sets Career High In Stolen Bases
6 years agoKansas City Royals utility man Whit Merrifield stole a pair of bases on Wednesday to set a new career high in steals with 35. Merrifield leads the American League in stolen bases, and the 29-year-old is once again the most valuable fantasy player on a bad Royals team. Merrifield's power dropped a bit in 2018 as he's only hit 12 home runs instead of the 19 he popped last year, but he's brought his batting average up to .302 and could top 40 stolen bases before the year is out. With the addition of speedy Adalberto Mondesi to the roster, expect KC to run wild next year, even if they don't win a whole lot of games.
