Weekend Rehab Assignment Now Unlikely For Byron Buxton
4 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) was believed to be progressing well enough that a rehab assignment would be on tap this weekend. That is likely no longer the case, as Buxton is still having trouble decelerating, per manager Rocco Baldelli. It sounds like Buxton is close, though the Twins don't want to push him unless he's 100 percent, a sentiment that Baldelli echoed. The speedy outfielder will likely continue to take swings in the batting cage and run until his body feels ready for game action. Rob Refsnyder, who has benefited from increased run in the outfield, should continue to make starts in center field in Buxton's absence.
