7 years agoWebb Simpson had a round for the ages Friday at The Players Championship. Simpson tied the TPC Sawgrass course record with a second round 63. Unbelievably, it could have been better. Simpson made six consecutive birdies before walking to the famous 17th hole at 11-under par for the day, but he put his tee shot in the water and made double bogey. Simpson then made par on the 18th hole to etch his name in history as one of six men to shoot 63 at TPC Sawgrass. He will head into the weekend with a five shot lead at 16-under par.
