Walker Buehler Throws Combined No-Hitter With Bullpen
7 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starter Walker Buehler was the first of four pitchers on Friday that combined to no hit the Padres in the first game of their weekend series in Mexico. Buehler, making his third career start, threw six innings, striking out eight and walking three. He was followed by Tony Cingrani, who struck out one and walked two in one inning. Yimi Garcia was next and he struck out two of the batters he faced. Adam Liberatore fanned two batters in the final frame. It was the team's first ever combined no-hitter and the 12th one to happen in major league history. Buehler spent the night painting the corners of the strike zone and induced 12 swinging strikes. Though he's faced relatively easy lineups (the Marlins, Giants and now Padres), he's showing why he's considered one of the top pitching prospects in baseball and a bonafide stud in the making. He should dominate the next lineup he faces, too. That would be the visiting Cincinnati Reds.
