2 months agoHouston Texans running back Joe Mixon has one of the most apparent fantasy situations for any running back in the NFL and should be in starting lineups as long as he's healthy. The Texans traded for the 28-year-old with the intention of making him a bell-cow back. Over the final 10 regular-season games last season, former Texans running back Devin Singletary played 75+% of snaps six times and drew averages of 16.7 carries and 2.9 targets — very similar to Mixon's career averages of 16.1 and 3.6. In Week 1, Houston will face an Indianapolis Colts defense that allowed the fourth-most rushing touchdowns in 2023, a green light for any back who gets regular red zone work like Mixon does.
