Tyson Bagent Has First Career Touchdown In Preseason Loss
2 years agoChicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent played behind only P.J. Walker in Saturday's preseason loss to the Colts with Justin Fields sitting out, and he did not disappoint. He played just two drives and went 9-for-10 for 76 passing yards. The 23-year-old also had a very impressive touchdown on the ground, where he dove and got into the end zone. Bagent played ahead of Nathan Peterman after playing behind him in the team's preseason opener. The undrafted rookie quarterback has now looked solid in two straight preseason games and will continue trying to push Peterman and Walker for the backup quarterback spot behind Fields.

Tyson Bagent Completes 20 Passes In Win Over Panthers
1 year agoChicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent made the fourth start of his career on Thursday Night Football in Week 10. The undrafted rookie finished 20-of-33 for 162 yards and rushed six times for 12 yards. While he played a clean brand of football with no turnovers, his 174 total yards were the fewest he's put up in any start this season. Justin Fields (thumb) remained out again, despite being questionable earlier in the week. With the long layoff before their Week 11 game, there seems to be a good chance Fields returns and sends Bagent back to the bench. The Bears take on the Lions in Week 11, who allow the 14th most points per game to quarterbacks this season. Even if Fields has to miss another week, Bagent remains better suited out of lineups given how limited the offense has played with him under center. Without consistent rushing opportunities, there isn't any real reason to rely on Bagent in fantasy lineups.

Justin Fields Officially Inactive, Tyson Bagent Starting Thursday
1 year agoChicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (thumb) is officially inactive on Thursday night as the team takes on the Carolina Panthers in Week 10. Rookie Tyson Bagent will make will make his fourth straight start as a result. Fields returned to practice last Friday and was limited this week, though, so he's clearly making progress and could make his return in Week 11 against the Detroit Lions after dislocating his right thumb in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings. The 24-year-old has so far been a massive bust for the Bears and fantasy managers in 2023, but he should remain rostered in all fantasy formats. Bagent has been serviceable given the fact he hails from a Division 2 school, and his ability to use his legs makes him a low-end QB2 option in superflex leagues against a very beatable Panthers defense on Thursday night. In his first four NFL games with Fields injured this year, Bagent has gone 74-for-110 (67.3 percent) for 697 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions.

Tyson Bagent Likely To Start In Week 10
1 year agoChicago Bears rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent is likely to make one more start this season with Justin Fields (thumb) doubtful for Thursday Night Football. The undrafted rookie is coming off his most productive fantasy performance of the year, completing 18 of 30 passes for 220 yards and two passing touchdowns while also adding eight rushes for 70 yards on the ground in their 24-17 loss to the Saints. He finished as the QB9 in most formats, offering value due to his rushing ability. Bagent will step in if Fields cannot play, but the Panthers have allowed the seventh-fewest points per game to quarterbacks this season, making it a challenging matchup. Bagent is best left on the bench in most cases, except for deeper two-QB superflex leagues.

Tyson Bagent Shows Flashes In Week 9 Loss To Saints
1 year agoChicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent had his best fantasy output in the team's 24-17 loss to the Saints. With Justin Fields sidelined due to a thumb injury, Bagent completed 18-of-30 passes for 220 yards, notching two passing touchdowns but with three interceptions. He also showcased his mobility by rushing eight times for 70 yards, although he did lose a fumble. Despite the team's defeat, Bagent exceeded expectations as the stand-in for the starting quarterback. The possibility of Fields returning for Week 10, as hinted by Bears' GM Ryan Poles, looms on the horizon, which would relegate Bagent back to the bench for the rest of the season. Chicago is set to face the Panthers, a team that ranks 23rd in points allowed to quarterbacks this season. If Fields can't make a comeback, Bagent could hold value as a streaming option in deeper leagues, given his rushing capabilities.
