4 years agoOakland Athletics catcher Tyler Soderstrom, a highly touted catcher out of Turlock High School, is expected to sign with the A's for around $3.3 million, an over slot deal for the 26th overall selection in the first round. Soderstrom is the son of former Giants first-rounder Steve Soderstrom. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound prep prospect is an athletic left-handed hitter who is bat-first and has a solid and polished approach at the plate. On the defensive side, he has a strong arm but is raw with his blocking and game management, which is why he was the backup catcher in high school.
