Tyler Reddick Grinds Out Enough Points At Charlotte To Advance In The Playoffs
1 month agoTyler Reddick placed 11th at the Charlotte Roval for the Bank of America ROVAL 400 after a hard-fought day. Starting from the second position, Reddick began the day with one of the fastest cars, competing for the top spot along with Kyle Larson, A.J. Allmendinger, and Shane Van Gisbergen. The No. 45 Toyota driver ran inside the Top 5 for the duration of the first stage and ended up winning it after the others headed to pit road early for track position after the stage break. Winning the first stage, however, put Reddick back in heavy traffic during the beginning of the second stage, and not long after it began, Reddick got into trouble as he made contact with Denny Hamlin, damaging his car and affecting its performance. As a result, Reddick spent most of the second stage trying to keep his car stable as his crew would try repairing the damage and was well outside the Top 10 by the end of the stage. In the final stage, Reddick's car recaptured some of the earlier performance it had from the first stage, but the pressure was on Reddick as he needed to gain positions or be eliminated from the playoffs by Joey Logano. As the stage progressed, Reddick rallied from outside of the Top 20 and ended the race just outside of the Top 10 with enough points to move onto the Round of 8. With the Cup Series now heading to Las Vegas to open the next round of the playoffs, Reddick could be a threat to win at the site as he finished as the runner-up there earlier in the season.
