Tyler Naquin Has Been A Big Surprise
4 years agoCincinnati Reds outfielder Tyler Naquin has been one of the biggest surprises in baseball in the early going, as he's tied for the National League lead in home runs with five and leads the league with 14 RBI. Coming out of spring training, Naquin was expected to be the fifth outfielder behind Nick Castellanos, Nick Senzel, Jesse Winker and Aristides Aquino, but he's been the team's best player. Instead, he's taken over as the starter in left field and has been a huge reason why the team is 7-3. The 29-year-old has a career slash line of .274/.325/.455 and never hit more than 14 home runs in his five years in Cleveland. He's currently slashing .290/.389/.806 with one double. Naquin will continue to see frequent playing time, but he'll have to maintain his hot start in order to see consistent at-bats given the Reds crowded outfield picture.
